The Six Nations tournament starts soon.: Who will claim The Wooden Spoon?

A very nice article. There's always so much talk about how horrible sports have gotten in our times. Nothing like a bit of history to reveal that the past was not always so saintly and well-behaved, even in England. "There were also threats to lynch the referee." Ah, some things never change. You've got to love tradition.

And the awards... in this day of big shiny steel and glass trophies, the notion of giving anyone a wooden spoon (even if it is for losing) is refreshing. Though I suppose all the fans of college football clubs with Oaken Buckets and such are about to come lynch me.

This place seems eerily familiar. As long as England don't get pipped at the post for the fourth time in a row, I don't mind who gets the wooden spoon. I suppose Italy are favourites again.
