The (other) Game of Their Lives: The writer and director who brought us Rudy and Hoosiers are teaming up again to make The Game of Their Lives, a film about the rude crew who beat England 1-0 in the 1950 World Cup. This film has some decent names lined up, Wes Bentley, Louis Mandylor, Gavin Rossdale (lead singer of Bush, Gwen's hubby).

Not to be confused with a documentary film from last year also called The Game of Their Lives, SpoFi discussion here, about North Korea's 1966 World Cup win over Italy in England.

I thought they already made a version of this. Stallone was the goalie, Pele was on the team, they had a big argument at halftime about whether or not come back out...oh, wait, that was something else. Seriously, I'm not a soccer fan, but this definitely goes on my "To Watch" list simply because of the creative team behind it. Hoosiers was on the other night and it still gives me chill bumps.

About that 1950 result. You were lucky and you know it. Making a film about it ain't going to change that. Hey, perhaps if it shows Hollywood's normal respect for historical accuracy, England will actually win. ;-)

Cool! I can't wait! I can't wait...more because its a soccer film than anything else. I really hope it isn't turned into a typical, "America is the best country in the world...with the freshly naturalized immigrants crying on the US Flag" or something lame like that...

Beautiful. Those are exactly the calculations I make when I send my trademark raking through passes from my penalty area right into my striker's path at the other end of the field. A masterpiece.
