Chipper Jones to retire at end of 2012 season: Next stop, Cooperstown. What I found most interesting is the "yet-to-be-determined role" they are exploring for him. Batting coach perhaps?

Braves fans are going to have a number of trips to make to the HOF over the next few years. It really underlines how lucky I've been to have had the pleasure of seeing Maddox, Glavine, Smoltz, and Jones all play live.

The Braves franchise has a lot of things -- tangible and intangible -- to thank Jones for. They made him the cornerstone of the franchise for many years and, in more than one way, he delivered.
The Braves paid him well for his baseball skills over the years. Here's hoping that the Braves take advantage of his baseball knowledge accumulated over the years and reward him for those intangibles following the 2012 season.

The only regret here is that Jones should have more than one ring at this point. He certainly did his share and then some (along with others named in flannelenigma's post above)

I look forward to his HOF induction in 2018.
