If Alex Smith signs with Miami and Manning picks anyone but the 49ers, who do the 49ers go after for starting QB?

If he signs with the Titans, they can go after Hasselbeck. David Garrard maybe. They could probably get Vince Young cheap.

The Niners do the bold thing and go get Tarvaris Jackson. Money is no object, of course. He should command at least a Curtis Painter salary.

Then Tarvaris quietly dons a sweatshirt, khakis, and ball cap while Harbaugh slips into his uniform...

Miami doesn't have a track record of signing marginal talent into long term locked in deals. Smith had 1 foot out of the NFL door before Harbaugh arrived and saved his sorry arse, he was a serviceable QB last year at best.
