Huge Brawl Ends Xavier-Cincinnati Game: A 76-53 Xavier rout of crosstown rival Cincinnati was ended nine seconds early Saturday because of a bench-clearing brawl. During the fracas, Cincinnati center Yancy Gates leveled his Xavier counterpart Kenny Frease with a punch to the head and Gates' teammate Cheikh Mbodj kicked Frease after he fell down. "These two programs hate one another," writes Jeff Goodman of CBS Sports. "They sit just a few miles away in Cincinnati and there's a history of altercations over the years. Frease, in fact, head-butted Gates a few years back."

There are going to be some big suspensions for that nonsense. Yancey Gates will probably get the biggest suspension, and it's well deserved.

I was wondering what kind of suspension Gates will get, and also the guy who kicks Frease. I can't remember any significant suspension in college basketball, but this seems like a good time to have one. And, maybe they should just take this game off the schedule in the future if the players can't control their emotions.

Gates and the guy that kicked Freese only got 6 games imposed by Cincinnati. Maybe the NCAA or the conference will do more?
