Chris Paul: Trade Me to Knicks: Chris Paul's agent told the New Orleans Hornets that the guard won't sign a contract extension and wants to be traded to the New York Knicks, sources told Yahoo Sports. Boston, Golden State, Houston and the Los Angeles Clippers are teams with interest in the four-time All Star.

Well, you can bet his agents knows, and he doesn't plan on letting his client lose any money.

I have just been reading this Grantland story explaining the new CBA. This part is relevant to Mr. Paul:
The more interesting change here is that new provisions allow for an S&T to have annual salary raises of 4.5 percent. This is lower than the max Bird Exception raises of 7.5 percent. The maximum contract length is also limited to four years, one fewer than the Bird Exception contract.
I knew about this but it didn't register how much it would change contracts. There's a chart in the Sign and Trade section that illustrates what this would have done to a larger contract like Lebron's and certainly Paul's upcoming deal. If he wants to leave, it's going to cost him.
I finally found something I like about this new CBA. It makes it easier for teams to retain talent and yet if a player doesn't mind losing a lot of money he's free to go. I think it's a nice balance.
On edit: Ok, and now I just read the extension and trade section and I'm not sure how much he'll be giving up anymore.
