So if the Sox and the Rays win tonight, is there a 1 game playoff or some other tie breakers?

One game tiebreaker (in St. Pete, based on superior head-to-head record for Rays). Same with Cards and Braves (in STL, also based on head-to-head).

Of course, judging from ESPN's coverage, you would not think there was a wild card race in the NL. I appreciate that the collapse of the Sox is pretty epic and they are a much bigger draw than either the Cards or Braves, but come on.

One game playoff in St. Petersburg.

Same dealio with Atlanta & the Cardinals, if they remain tied, one game in St. Louis.

On edit, what holden said.

When Atlanta and St. Louis start spending like the Sox, then they can have coverage. I kid, I kid. I'm a Sox fan and I'm tired of the unending focus on the AL East.

Though the Braves + Cards salaries are only about a Royals more than the Sox, yet still less than the Yanks

The AL East is better than all the other divisions. That's why it gets covered. Go Rays!

The Braves will blow it tonight. Mark it down.

And I say that as a fan.

Hopefully the Yankees send Jorge Posada to the mound as a way of helping their great friends in Boston.

Is there any batter hotter than Adrian Beltre going into the playoffs? Twelve home runs in September, he is on fire.

I'll also be sad to see Javier Vazquez go if he decides to hang it up. He has been dominant since the start of August.

Strange that I think more of the Yankees than you do.

Kidding, obviously. I think the world of the Yankees, not much of the Sox. I've never seen the Yankees lay down in a game. Just numerous how Boston needs New York's help.

Every hitter in the St. Louis lineup has a hit through the first three innings off Brett Myers as St. Louis is tattooing a lifeless Houston team.
