King Kenny complains about ref decisions against Liverpool in the first four games, meets with head ref during the week and--*Gomer Pyle voice*surprise, surprise--the Reds have two players sent off in today's match.

"The Patriots lead the NFL in plays where they just make it happen." - Phil Simms.

What?

Bellichek going for it on 4th and 4 from midfield with a 6 point lead? I say this as a Pats fan, but sometimes, I feel he's just asking for it. Or he's getting his intel from Phil Simms.

...and he gets effing lucky that San Diego coughed the ball up on the next possession.

As a Pats fan and Sportsfilterian, you should be well aware of the value of going for it on 4th down.

Clearly Bellichek, with his transdimensional understanding of football, knew that they would turn the ball over. Cleverly, he raised their hopes with the 4th down stop and great field position, only to crush their will. And, by crush their will, I mean give up another TD to keep the game within one score before finally putting it away.

(written as a Pats fan who is baffled by some of BB's decisions, including the unending late-game-with-a-lead passing when they could be griding out the clock - it works for them, but damn if it's not hard to watch them fail to put teams away)

Jason Hanson set a NFL record today, playing 297 games with the same team. When he finally hangs up his cleats, I hope the Lions retire his number.

It turns out, they went for the 4th down because the punter was hurt. Godspeed, Zoltan Mesko.

Loved watching the Lions dominate the Chiefs, but I wish nothing but the best for Jamaal Charles. He is one of the most exciting players to watch in the league and it would be a shame if he misses significant time.

Cam Newton throws for another million yards. Too bad that a chunk of that yardage went the other way.

Steelers didnt look old or slow Sunday. I know it is Seattle, but way to respond from the Ravens beating.

Meanwhile, Matt Hasselbeck made the Ravens look old and slow.

Oh parity, you crazy diamond.
