Dodger Red: China Part of Bid to Buy Dodgers: Embattled owner Frank McCourt has received a $1.2 billion offer for the Los Angeles Dodgers that includes some money from the government of China. Businessman Bill Burke's offer does not specify how much would come from "certain state-owned investment institutions of the People's Republic of China," according to a letter he sent McCourt's ownership group. "Imagine rooting for a team owned by an authoritarian government that jails its citizens for organizing unions or worshiping the wrong gods, and depresses its currency to decimate what remains of American manufacturing," writes Harold Meyerson.
