Rockies' Juan Nicasio hit by line drive: Colorado lost 5-3 to Washington , but it didn't seem to matter after rookie right-hander Juan Nicasio was wheeled off on a cart in the 2nd inning after being struck on the right side of his head by a line drive off the bat of Washington's Ian Desmond. The ballpark fell virtually silent for several minutes as Nicasio lay on the Coors Field mound amid a crowd of teammates and medical personnel. He never got back to his feet before being placed on a stretcher and into the cart. Nicasio was moving his hands as he was tended to by Rockies trainer Keith Dugger and paramedics. According to the Rockies, Nicasio was undergoing a battery of tests but resting comfortably at a hospital after suffering a neck injury. Rockies players were visibly shaken by the incident.

The place he was hit looks pretty close to where batting coach Mike Coolbaugh was struck and died. I hope it's not as serious as it looked.

Rockies' Juan Nicasio has surgery to repair broken neck: Nicasio broke his C-1 vertebrae, the Rockies said, and will be out indefinitely. "Juan will remain hospitalized as he recovers from the surgery," the team said in a release.

Still in the Intensive Care Unit. The doctor mentions that his career is not necessarily over. Even if he recovers physically I'm not sure how you could come back mentally from something like that.

That's really scary. I hope he's ok.
