Adam Dunn Having Worst Hitting Season Since 1909: Chicago White Sox designated hitter Adam Dunn is on pace for the lowest single-season batting average by any player qualified for a batting title in a century. Bill Bergen hit .139 as a starter for the 1909 Brooklyn Superbas. Dunn's hitting .165. "For sabermetricians, Dunn is the prototype of the 'three true outcomes' hitter, so named because walks, home runs and strikeouts are the only outcomes over which the opposing defense has no control," writes Neil Paine in the New York Times.

Well, he can't hit shit right now, but his OBP is .298, which is better than a lot of guys. He's the world's most boring player that's for sure, but I don't see how it's the worst hitting season since 1909. It's just the lowest average.

"That horrifying scene in Swingers where Favreau keeps calling back the girl he met in the bar? Yeah, every Adam Dunn at-bat feels like that."

Oh Christ. Yikes.

As a fantasy owner this drives me nuts. As a Tigers fan I hope it doesn't get any better for Dunn.
