Brazilian basketball legend Oscar Schmidt has announced his retirement at the age of 45. He lead the Brazilian team over the host Americans at the 1987 Pan American Games (and a year and a half later the eligibility rules are changed - chau to the college kids, ol to the Dream Team). Is anyone else disappointed that they didn't get to see more of this megastar?

He was one fun player to watch - you knew he was going to shoot and still other teams couldn't stop him. That's talent. I'm glad I got to see him in his prime.

To be honest I had no idea he was even still playing. I though he was older than that, I thought he was in his 40s in the early 90s. Woulda been nice to see him play in the NBA for a year or two.
