It's sad anytime a freak accident like this occurs.

Unfortunately, some attorneys will come rushing in, such the league, sue the ball maker ... had a case in Wayne, N.J., a few years ago. Pitcher was struck by a batted ball; heart stopped, he was revived but suffered brain damage to the point where he's mentally and physically disabled. Family sued the bat maker and won a $1.5 million judgement.

Terrible tragedy.

Family sued the bat maker and won a $1.5 million judgement.

Completely unrelated case, but the bat manufacturers shouldn't keep trying to "improve" bats for little leagues by making the ball come off the bat faster and faster.

A family with a severely disabled kid may have no choice but to sue, given the medical costs incurred by such an injury. They have a lifetime of care for their child to anticipate.
