Red Sox agree with 1B Gonzalez on 7-year deal: The Boston Red Sox have agreed to terms with first baseman Adrian Gonzalez on a new contract that will pay him $154 million over the next seven years
"The agreement was first reported by Comcast Sports Net."
To which you might add, "...and about 3 or 4 months ago by every other media outlet in the Red Sox marketing area." The length and size of the contract were being accurately reported soon after the Gonzalez trade. You can bet Boston did not give up the prospects they did for Gonzalez without some surety about his health after surgery and his signing a long term contract. The actual signing of the contract was delayed until after the start of the season so that his contract would not alter the Red Sox salary structure that is computed for this year's luxury taxes.
