MLS Season Opens in Pacific Northwest: Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder Juninho beat Seattle Sounders goalkeeper Kasey Keller on a 25-yard shot inside the near post in the 58th minute, leading the Galaxy to a a 1-0 win that opens the 16th Major League Soccer season. This is the first season for the Portland Timbers and Vancouver Whitecaps. The expected success of these franchises is shown by a remarkably common phrase in the media: "soccer-mad Pacific Northwest."
I always hate "stories" like that because so rarely name who is actually complaining, or really it's one or two people. Look, everything's going to get complaints- unless it's a groundswell, then it's really a non-story, right?
Fuckin' media...
Was in a bar last night when two guys came in wearing a bunch of Sounders gear; they looked pretty damned glum, so that's how I knew that soccer season had started, and with a loss for Seattle.

The MLS season may (although, really? probably not) feature a certain familiar face from the NFL.

"or really it's one or two people"
It's just the people being quoted: one or two people. Seriously, I was expecting something a lot racier than that video, having seen women painted in soccer jerseys for a long time, that was quite tasteful. If you are going to complain about that, you have an axe to grind.

Whitecaps' provocative marketing push draws complaints A Vancouver Whitecaps FC video featuring a body-painted female model concludes with the question Where will you be March 19?' in reference to the team's Major League Soccer debut against Toronto FC Saturday.
