Random thoughts from the middle of an intensive sport watching weekend:

1. The bottom four of the Premier League are all playing proper football. Wigan passed it around against Man U, and West Ham are taking it up to Liverpool as we speak (cracking game, too). Wolves and West Brom also play the passing game, with no little skill. None of them really deserve to go down*.

2. I get an Indian channel for the Cricket World Cup. The local advertisements are fantastic, but I'm worried that this company's market researchers might not have a tremendous grasp of colloquial English. (Warning: schoolboy humour).

*NB: This statement (from a Derby County fan) needs to be verified independently for technical accuracy.

Heard the West Ham/Liverpool game was awesome. Too bad I couldn't see it:( (Fucking Setanta. $15 a month rip off station. GolTV and Fox Sports World... $3.95 a month combined!)

And I stayed up to watch Arsenal throw it away (again) and the epic India-England tie.

Liverpool v West Ham United due for replay locally on NESN Monday night. Now that I've peeked at the score, it won't be a surprise, but if Drood's sources are accurate, it might be worth a look.

India-England was an instant classic: a majestic ton by Tendulkar, a seemingly unattainable total that became attainable through Strauss's innings, then fell away, then came back into view in those last two overs. For all the (very reasonable) talk of the decline of the 50-over format, you don't get anywhere near that tension or those changes of momentum in a T20.

Unless they took bets from Salim Malik.

But not Warne, though he's an even smugger bastard than usual after this.

Howard: My sources are people on Twitter who were watching the game:)

Hmm, I guess I'm ok with John Henry replaying games from the wrong side of Liverpool as long as they're embarrassing.
