If Kelly, Rizzo, and Fuentes are the price for Gonzalez, Boston has made a real deal. It is still contingent on the results of the physical and a contract extension, but since Boston has moved a lot of potential money off roster (Martinez and Beltre, as well as some dead money that has finally expired), that should not be a problem.
Other news is that Jeter will sign with NYY for 3 at 17M per year.

It's not an absolute given Beltre is gone- but this does reduce it significantly. As much as I love Papi's contributions over the years, it's not the *worst* idea in the world to trade him and keep Beltre/Gonzalez/Youk as a rotating triumvirate of corner infielders and DH. I'm very high on Beltre and loved watching him in Seattle.

I don't see Ortiz being traded. I'm not sure what the market is for a DH that can't hit left handed pitching for 12.5 million.
Unless Youk moves to left, which is doubtful, I'm not sure where Beltre fits in.

Jeter to sign with Yankees? Shocking. Was any other team even interested in him? As a player, I mean; not a figurehead.
