Never leave your couch again: If there's nothing to watch on the new College Sports Television or The Tennis Channel, this fall you will be able to watch The Football Network.

"Baton Rouge - The Football Capital of the World"??? WTF are they kidding? And here's another winner--Chicks on Football. Cuz chicks dig being called chicks, though minor credit for not splashing lots of cheesy Becky Jensen pics. I can't wait until Comcast Cable picks this winner up so I can watch those important Atlantic 10 matchups!

Can you roll your own sports network with TIVO? I want my own soccer channel. FoxSportsWorld comes pretty darn close, but I don't want to get the goofy US commentators on EPL, or watch Scottish soccer. And no Aussie rules football or Gaelic football or whatever. It'd be cool to be able to pull the direct feed from SkyTV or wherever the game was played, then just switch back and forth between languages for the commentaries (e.g., getting a Serie A (Italy) match in English). I also want to watch the games I want whenever I want. Mmm. Roll-your-own network ...

I'd get a TiVo to tpae an entire weekend of Speed Channel and then play it back a bit at a time during the week while they do their NASCAR shilling all week long.

"Baton Rouge - The Football Capital of the World"??? WTF are they kidding? While that may be overstating the case, college football in Baton Rouge is HUGE----easily one of the most football crazy parts of the country.

Believe me wc2002, you don't want to watch Scottish football. ;-) I always kinda wanted to have cable/satellite tv at home, just for the sports. However, the cost is just too prohibitively expensive (along the lines of £50 a month if you wanted to watch all the football available). I gather the same is true in the USA if The Simpsons is to be believed (I get most of my knowledge of the USA from The Simpsons). So I go to the pub 3 or 4 times a week to watch the football. People have said to me, that with what I spend on beer when I'm there it'd be cheaper to get cable in at home. They miss the point though - I'm getting drunk included in the price. Also, sports are far better watched in the company of other, amiable drunks.

Squealy — I have just succumbed to the beast that is DishNetwork in the States. It is wonderful, and will be doubly so when NHL Center Ice rolls around this fall. Still, were I still living in a more urbane area, nothing beats going to the bar a couple times a week and watching (fill in sport of choice). Here, however, my options are limited to sitting and watching NASCAR, which is too long for me to do without having a bottle of something really strong in front of me, that gets too expensive, etc.
