Not a bad birthday present.

German hockey shootout believed to be world record at 42 attempts
That's 21 shots for each team, which means they were getting pretty close to having the goalies take one themselves...

That birthday present was pretty incredible to watch. I'm glad I stayed up a bit late to see that last night. The Ashes officially have me hooked.

I'm in Turkey. I got up this morning and the score was whatever it was (179?) for 4. I got in the shower, came back and checked my Blackberry again and assumed I'd read it wrong when I woke up. Couldn't believe it when I turned the radio on and Boycott was doing his nut. Day one to the Aussies. Only another 24 to go.
I've been thinking about starting a blog writing about sports and the difficulty of watching all the things you really want to see in the UK if you don't have Sky TV (I was going to call it skylessingaza.com), but I'm getting so frustrated having to listen to the Ashes sounds with no pictures that I may have to just bite the bullet when I get home and get a satellite dish.

What was all the commotion towards the end of the Lions/Pats game today? We had the sound turned down and the Lie-downs were yelling at the refs about something. What were they miffed about? Other than getting their sorry asses handed to them yet again. (I can say such things, I'm a Lions fan)

Speaking of Turkey, the Cowboys are delivering one.
Must be time to fire another coach.

There was a scuffle on the Pats last drive, and then more fighting after the extra point. Being the great network they are, CBS neglected to show any replays of the extra point or discuss what happened. That may be the first time I've seen a team kick it off from the opposing team's 40 yard line.

Really?

Atrocious play-calling by the Cowboys on those last three plays before the field goal attempt. Jon Kitna didn't help with some of those throws either.

Really?
Guess I'll be eating that turkey (or my words)....
Sure did a good job of getting them going after the first quarter.
That team is starting to look like the Superbowl contender everyone expected them to be, if they start every game ready to play look out.

A couple of questionable pass interference penalties that went the Pat's way had the Lion's D worked up. as well.

I'd have been worked up too if I was the Lions' D. They had a great start and pushed Brady around pretty good for most of the game...then, well. Put it this way, can't blame 'em for really wanting to win that particular game.
