Remember Freddy Adu?: Man U is asking for his digits. Also a U.K. screenwriter wanted to cast Freddy in the upcoming movie Liverpool Leopard, about a soccer prodigy from the Zulu tribe who is discovered by a Liverpool player on vacation in South Africa. Freddy is the next Pelé LeBron O.J. Mayo.

He's been linked with Newcastle too.

So Inter Milan offered $750K when he was 11, just so he could come over and join their schoolboy program. At this rate, now that he's 13, I'm going to say Man U will have to start at 1.5mil pounds. Start. I'd sure love to see his mother turn them down just like she did Inter. Please give this boy some time to grow.

I can't wait to actually see him play already! All this talk is making me very curious...

Did you forget all those videos squealy linked to? But you probably mean watching him play an entire game. Yeah, me, too. We should find out where and when the next US U-17 games are being played. Or we could just fly down to Florida and sneak into the academy where he goes to school and trains.

I'm a dumbass and didn't go out to see him play at the Dallas Cup last month. The U.S. U-17 team came in second. Lost to a team from Monterrey, Mexico. (Tigres, I think). If he's still on the U-17 team, I'll make sure and go out next year.

I don't know. There's not much fun in watching some Mexican pros beating up on 15-year-olds, is there? Unless the 15-year-olds were beating up the pros. Now that's good sport.

I don't know. There's not much fun in watching some Mexican pros beating up on 15-year-olds, is there? Dallas Cup is a youth tournament. The U.S. U-17 squad elected to play in the Super Group which is U-19. Players aren't allowed to have been born before Aug. 1, 1983. So yeah, they're under a professional club, but it's not like the teams you see on Univision.

btw, here is the page of schedules and scores for the super group. In addition to U.S. U-17 and Tigres, Newcastle United and Guadalajara had youth teams represented. And yes, the Tigres beat the U-17 team 2-1 in the final while Guadalajara beat the Newcastle team 3-2 in the consolation match.
