Ron Artest Ranks Top 2 NBA Players: The NBA's biggest free agent signing this summer when the Oklahoma Thunder re-signed Kevin Durant, asserted Ron Artest of the Los Angeles Lakers. "He's the second best player in the NBA," said Artest, who rates Kobe Bryant first and said his lower weight of 260 pounds was motivated by Durant. "He was a hard cover for me last year. I was a little bit afraid he would average 40 on me if I came in 270 [again]."

I can't figure out if Artest and Dwight Howard are saying that Durant is better because he is or because they are trying to needle Lebron. I'm definitely on Team Durant, but I hope it is praise for doing what he does and not as the anti-Lebron.

Durant has always played his natural position. LeBron may shine this year with less ball handling responsibilities and a quality guard to feed him the ball.

Still, if I'm a GM building a team today Durant and Howard are 1 and 2 on my list to build around.
