Macha Out as Manager for Brewers: The Milwaukee Brewers are not picking up the option on manager Ken Macha, he confirmed to the media Sunday. He was 157-167 in two seasons running the team. "Considering the pitching staffs he managed during his two years at the helm, Macha never had much of a chance to win," the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports.
Yeah, not much to say about this. The pitching was atrocious both years, though it did improve later this year. I'd suspect he might have gotten a winning season out of the team next year, if Randy Wolf bounces back to career norms and some of the young callups can continue to perform well.
That said, he didn't get along with Braun and Fielder, and they already managed to oust Ned Yost. Writing was sort of on the wall.
