I don't remember any of those - doesn't help that I was really young or not born for the majority of those. BUT, I have very fond memories of a number of misses - Baggio's penalty kick off the crossbar against Brazil, and Kleivert's (? I think that was his name) miss of a near empty goal against also Brazil.

For me, the highlight of the World Cup was seeing Geoff Hurst scoring 3 in 1966. Never equaled.

I remember nearly all of those goals. It would be fair to say that it is a list of the best goals of the televised world cups. I find it hard to believe that so many of the best goals were scored to recently. I remember a screamer Russia scored in 1986 - could have been against Canada. I think the scorer was Vassily Rats, from about 35 metres out.

Is anyone going to the World Cup?! Anyone making special plans to watch it? I am taking off work for about 2 weeks to watch certain games....

I always thought Archie Gemmill's goal was a work of art. Now it is literally (well, a dance piece). The 1970 final was the first tv programme I ever watched, and Carlos Alberto's strike is without question the greatest goal in the greatest game in the greatest sport ever. I'm not too optimistic for Brazil's chances this year, though.

There's a storm in the UK about watching the world cup in pubs. England's matches fall outside normal licensing hours, which means pubs will not be able to be open to show the games. Magistrates have indicated that England's games do not deserve to be exempted. As an example of how ridiculous this is, the Queen's Golden Jubilee, is considered worthy of extending pub hours. Football fans all over the country are outraged.

I've printed out a copy of TSN's schedule and marked the games I want to watch. I would have had tickets, including a ticket to the final, if only Scotland had managed to qualify.

Lets see if Team USA can get past Iran this go-round eh? Nice link, though I wonder if there's any place I can get those goals on video? The only ones I recall seeing were replays of the Maradona goals..
