China Trying to Buy Liverpool FC: The government of China is funding a bid to buy Liverpool Football Club, seeking to extend the country's global influence, AFP reports. China's overseas investment arm China Investment Corp is providing funds for a bid fronted by businessman Kenny Huang, competing with a private equity group and a wealthy Kuwaiti family.

This is somebody's idea of a practical joke; no way are CIC behind a bid for Liverpool. However, I sure wish the situation would get settled quickly. Maybe an auction like was just held for Hick's baseball team.
