Super-Heavyweight Boxer Pretty in Pink: Super-heavyweight boxer Lenroy "Cam" Thompson, currently seeking his second title at the USA boxing national championships, enters the ring wearing pink trunks, pink headgear and a pink T-shirt. "In 10 years, I want to be able to say I raised $1 million to fight breast cancer," he says.
About 15 years ago, me sweet, wonderful aunt died of breast cancer. It took all of three months from discovery to death.
About 3 years ago, my administrative assistant - an absolute angel of a human being - died after fighting it for nearly a decade.
So, basically, fuck cancer.
I don't know anything else about "Cam" Thompson, but I think its fantastic that he's doing this. We have the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure out here every year and I always participate in that, but having an athlete with a bit of a profile make such a bold choice... well, good for him.
My google-fu skills are week, but it doesn't seem like he has a donate online location associated with his name, because I'd totally donate to that right now.
Thanks for the link.

Angel Villarreal, national chief of officials for USA Boxing, said minors in the stands might not understand the nuance of Thompson's message and mistake it as misogynistic.
"Everybody in the sport knows he's bringing great awareness to the breast cancer cause and we support him, but the kids in the audience might not get it and their parents might find it offensive," Villarreal said.
Maybe people should give the kids some credit or take the time to explain it if they are concerned rather than attempting to censor it. Overall, I think it is a great thing that he is doing and should be encouraged and I was happy to see the quote from the other boxer acknowledging that.
