For World Cup fans with nothing to do today, the Coney Island hot dog eating contest coverage on ESPN begins at 12 noon Eastern time.

The event of course is being held under the auspices of Major League Eating.

It will be interesting to see if the defending champ will change the shape of his midsection during the contest if seriously challenged by other competitors.

Mustard and ketchup cards will be issued by the referees as required.

Some contestants may be booked and sent off. Hard to predict how many men will be left on the retch at the end of the competition.

There will be no vuvuzelas allowed at this event. Any sounds resembling a vuvuzela that occur during the contest should be considered purely coincidental.

If there is any stoppage time, it will be added well after the conclusion of the tournament, during the overnight hours.
