Giving Proper Gravestones to Negro Leagues Players: the Negro Leagues Grave Marker Project has tracked down and provided a headstone for 19 players who lacked them on their graves. The most recent was for Big Bill Gatewood. "These were great ballplayers who don't deserve to be forgotten, but they have been," said Dr. Jeremy Krock, an anesthesiologist from Peoria, Ill.,, who founded the project.
That's a nice story. It's a bit sad that Gatewood's grandchildren didn't attend.
