A bittersweet home run for John McDonald.:
"We cried on each other's shoulder for a good 30 seconds," Wells said. "When it went out, it was instant goosebumps. It kind of puts everything in perspective on whether you had a good day or a bad day at the plate or in the field. Wins and losses don't really matter at that point."

I watched parts of the game, but when the Giants blew it open, I decided to head to the gym.

I was in the car when John hit the home run, I cried a few tears.

Geez, I miss my dad.

Side note, nowhere near as emotional but still brought a twinge to my eye: MLB.com powered by Sun Microsystems signage. My old day job exists no more Bud Selig.

tommytrump - I miss my dad too. My dad coincidentally died the same day Brett Favre's dad died and he was a huge sports fan and professional gambler. I remember the game Brett Favre had the Monday night after. When I heard his father died on the same day as mine and that he was going to play the game because his dad would have wanted him to, it was like a sign to me, so I placed a sizable bet on the Packers and Favre played great and I felt like a couple of dads were making sure everything was they way it should be.

Forgive me I know it was a silly story but I guess this story just reminded me of the feeling I had and still have to this day about the part sports can play in the father son relationship.
