A shame that the NBA couldn't have scheduled Game 2 for Sat. night after having Game 1 on Thurs., so the NHL and NBA games didn't have to go head to head with the same start times last night.

If they did it right, you could go back and forth between hoops and hockey from one day to the next.

But I know that not everyone wants to watch both series.

And the extra day off probably helped the Celts' ability to step up and even their series.

If the Flyers and Hawks were able to score a couple more goals per game, I could tell the guy sitting next to me on the bus who doesn't know anything about sports that the Stanley Cup Finals are being played to determine the North American lacrosse championship.

England lose on penalties again.

I always knew Theakston was a ponce.

Don't do it, Coach Izzo. No amount of Cleveland Cavalier money would be worth it.

Think back to the fun you had coaching Zach Randolph for one year and multiply that by 75 (15 rostered guys per year over a five year deal).

Think he doesn't already know this? College coaches whose teams consistently perform at a high level are paid very well and have no career concerns whatsoever.

NBA is a completely different animal. Take Cleveland - star players don't show up in the playoffs and the Coach gets canned. Teams can't properly address problems because they are slave to their star players, that's a no win situation as a coach.

Seems like these Izzo to the pros rumors crop up every year, and thankfully he always stays put.

One point of concern is that the Cavs' owner is a MSU man and reportedly determined to do whatever it takes to get Izzo to Cleveland. With Ferry gone as GM, he's pretty much running the team himself at the moment.

Another concern is that if Izzo were to want more money, he would probably have to leave MSU. As a state employee, his salary is a matter of public record and he's already one of the highest paid people in an economically devastated state.

No doubt he would want to avoid the type of scene that Coach Calhoun found himself faced with in Connecticut, having to publicly defend and justify his salary.

So it wouldn't be sensible for Izzo to risk greater resentment by using pro offers to try to leverage a richer deal from MSU. He could go for an extension, but they would probably extend him in a heartbeat anyway.

I think Izzo has more than earned any salary he is given. He is adored by the university and fans and has done wonders with the program. Plus, with his recruiting power I can't see him ever getting in a situation where he'll need to justify his salary.

One dickhead with an agenda and a microphone gets 20 seconds of fame, that's all that was.

Nobody can question what Calhoun or Izzo have done for their schools, both are coaching legends. They earn every cent they are paid.
