2-Year-Old Girl Catches 20 Lb Muskie With Barbie Fishing Pole: Not your everyday fish story when you have a muskie, a two-year-old girl and a Barbie fishing pole.

This is a cool post. Sportfishing, by two-year-olds or not, isn't an everyday topic here at SpoFi. Well, I guess this example was more leisurely pursuit than sportfishing ... but cool nonetheless.
It'd be interesting to follow this young gal as she re-tells this fish story throughout her life. I mean the fish was bigger than her when she caught it.

Wasn't there a story very much like this a couple of years ago?
Not saying shenanigans, but I am kinda thinking it.

"I caught a shark......" What a riot. just what you would expect to come out of a two year olds mouth. Story says Grandpa reeled it in, but the little girl did catch it. I say no shenanigans. Not this time.

LBB, are you saying something smells fishy?
Thanks, I will be here all week, try the muskie, be sure to tip your waitress.
On a more serious note, I tried to look up what kind of line these children's poles came with and drew a blank, but I did find this story about a guy catching a big cat fish with his granddaughter's Barbie pole. This might be the story you were talking about LBB.
edit: After using the always helpful search function, I found we were on the same page.

The way I figure it, these are fishing poles, albeit toy fishing poles, and they are bound to catch something at some point. Furthermore, it seems like the lure that comes with the pole is pretty huge, so it stands to reason that large mouthed fish would be the main ones to snag it.
Tough little fishing poles. What a thrill for the little girl!

Oh yeah, I remember the story about the guy catching the big fish with his granddaughter's toy fishing pole. I always wondered how that went over with his fishing buddies.
(I'm amazed that I have even a vague memory of August 2008)

From the article:
She caught her first fish at Round Lake not with the star plastic lure on the Barbie fishing pole, but with a hook and worm.
The Snoopy pole, for comparitive purposes.
I'm here to testify that ol' Snoopy works pretty well. And my idea of Barbie as a role model for girls has changed a bit, too. Any gal that likes fishin' can't be all bad.

Well, that's a damn shame.

Cracked up just thinking about Barbie attempting to fish. Classic.
I remember when the Snoopy model was my first fishing rod... I think I still have the thing. Fairly useless (unless you want to just catch little sunfish) but I've been hooked on fishing ever since. Yes, that weak little pun was intended.

Sounds like the Barbie pole may outperform the Snoopy model. Good post.
