The Wings simply fell apart last night. You could drive a train through Howard's five hole.

Holmstrom seems to have forgotten where that line is for "mixing it up" in front of the net, and "interfering the goaltender".
That penalty he got in the late stages of the third period was just pure stupidity. He MIGHT have gotten away with the initial shove (that put Boyle on top of Nabokov), but the second and third pushes to hold him down on top of the goalie, with the referee 5 feet away, was too much.
The ref didn't want to call the penalty, but it was so damn obvious he had to do it.

Redmond had been going on all game about how Holmstrom was going to get a penalty callled on him too. Quite frankly, while there have been some dubious calls in this series the majority of the penalties have been the Wings making boneheaded plays.

Penalties aside you cannot take anything away from the Thornton to Marleau gamewinner, that was a beaut!

Milton Bradley badly misunderstood what it means to be asked to leave a game.

Howard hasn't been great, but Nabakov has had a few groaners go past as well.
The big difference is in the energy level, SJ just appears to have more jump, especially towards the end of the games. No way the penalty count evens out unless Detroit picks up their level of play.
If the Wings work a little harder (and smarter) they could still turn this around ... they are playing like crap and still are in every game.

Cracking match at Eastlands right now in the playoff for fourth spot. Still scoreless between Manchester City and Tottenham, but quite a fun watch so far.

Crouch, don't see how Capello can leave him home now.

Hockey announcers like to say that penalties even out over the course of a season or playoff series. If that's true, the Sharks are in for a parade to the box tomorrow night, as they hold a 22-11 advantage on the power play so far...
