Relief Pitcher's Book Hits Best-Seller List: Relief pitcher Dirk Hayhurst's new autobiography The Bullpen Gospels, which documents his life in the minors and majors, has reached the New York Times best-seller list and is getting comparisons to Jim Bouton's infamous Ball Four. He changes names to protect the guilty. "I don't bury any teammates, and I'm proud of that," writes Hayhurst, an interesting character who creates mythical animals and has taken a vow of celibacy before marriage. Keith Olbermann calls the memoir "one of the best baseball books ever written."
I'm not that big of a baseball fan but I think I will pick up this book. Gotta support a hometown boy. :)
I used to work with his dad.
