Oxford win the 149th annual Boat Race by a whole foot.: I think thats about as close as they come - one foot out of four and a quarter miles.. About a quarter of a million people there - you can watch it here if you missed it. Not bad for amateurs!
That was an absolutely cracking race. Let's hope next year (the 150th) can match the competitiveness.

Somebody has to say it, so it might as well be me... How come the same two always get to the final?

It does seem strange that so much attention is focused on a race between the two top universities in (of all sports) rowing, which tends not to grab headlines very often, Stephen Redgrave excepted of course. Having said that, it was a dramatic, nail-biting race all the way through. I have no real bias, though I've known more Oxfordians (Oxfordese? Oxfordessians? Oxymorons?) than Cambridgellians.

As a side note.. We rock, we rock, we rock.. Spot the Oxford student.. Seriously though, with a finish like that, it seems tough to have winners and losers - all that preparation and they went down by 12 inches.. Gutting. Now to go and make fun of my Cambridge mates.. Hehe..
