Navratilova Being Treated for Breast Cancer: Tennis great Martina Navratilova is being treated for breast cancer and her prognosis is good, she said Wednesday on Good Morning America. The 53-year-old, who played competitively until three years ago, said that a ductal carcinoma in situ (DICS) was first detected during a mammogram in early January. "The bad news is it's cancer," she said. "The good news is that it hasn't spread."
It's obviously a hell of a shock, but her chances are good. Here's hoping she comes through it just fine and is back doing commentary for the French Open.

CA in Situ is technically not cancer, it's a pre-cancerous lesion. It will usually turn into a malignant neoplasm if left untreated. She has multiple treatment options and her prognosis should be pretty good, especially since it was caught so early.
