Twins' Joe Nathan Out for Year with Tommy John Surgery: Minnesota Twins closer Joe Nathan is going to undergo Tommy John surgery to repair the ulnar collateral ligament tear suffered two weeks ago and will be out for the season -- if not longer. The Twins are furiously shopping for a replacement and may be considering Toronto's Jason Frasor.
So, I keep my catcher, but my closer is gone.
Nathan has filled the closer role so well, it will be interesting to see which of the current Twins and/or outsiders they get to fill his shoes.
New park, and Mauer signed, I'm really excited about the season. The Nathan news sucks, but hopefully the Twins can produce enough runs to make the closer role not so important.
Never got excited about the NBA or NHL this year, so bring on baseball!

Say it ain't so, Joe! Tough news for the Twins and their bullpen.

Fortunately, the Twins have a bit of good news to the tune of 8 years, $184 million. He may not be able to close, but I'd say this'll make the Nathan news hurt a little bit less.
