Argonauts sale has opened a can of worms: Having once had two teams with the same nickname, the Canadian Football League has now taken the position it isn't harmful to have two teams with one owner.
Argonauts officially fall under Braley's control
& Braley takeover of Argos damages CFL integrity

For a long time AEG (Philip Anschutz) owned half the teams in MLS. Slowly most have been sold to other operators but in general this did not cause the issues one might expect. Alexi Lalas was able to mess up several franchises rather than just one as he was their fair-haired boy for awhile...

I like Braley. I am extremely optimistic about his ability to improve the position of the Toronto Argonauts. This is good for Toronto. This is good for the league. All this talk about the fact that he owns two clubs being a "stain" or hit to the league's integrity befuddles me a bit.
For starters, I think that those who are worried about the league's integrity are the same ones who feel that this is a second-rate league at best. I'm not going to put too much stock into those views/opinions myself. Secondly, on the need for vigilance on transactions and contests between the two teams? Seriously. It's not like he can loan the best of one squad to stack another. And even if he did, either team would still have to beat the Eskimos to win or get to the Grey Cup ;)
My bet is that Braley works some magic and rights the Argo ship, then sells it in a few years. Or, he sells the Lions. Or both. Who knows. Until then, I'm gonna be firmly in the club that says that this is the best-case scenario for the time being.
