Transsexual Sportswriter Mike Penner Dies: Mike Penner, the Los Angeles Times sportswriter who wrote two years ago about changing sexes to become Christine Daniels and received an outpouring of public support, has died in an apparent suicide at age 52. Penner dropped the name Daniels and returned to his old byline in 2008.
Yup. With the support of his employer and the public, you would hope that he might've found some happiness after the decision. But the quiet change back to using his male name makes it sound like he was still struggling. Tough life.

Some people are just unhappy in their own skin. A change of genitals rarely cures the real problem. Sad but not all that surprising.
I can't imagine removing your penis only to discover that it was a mistake.
Sometimes I think these people imagine how wonderful life will be if they could just be the other sex, only to discover that nobody really sees them as the new sex, but rather an anomaly or oddity. Must be torture to dream about something your whole life and then when you make it happen, the result is dissapointing and even more traumatic.
