Well, we didn't play this weekend, it being an FA Cup weekend and all. Well done on beating Bolton and doing us a favour though, that's one less game they have to catch up with us.

The Fa Cup draw is out of the bag. Sheffield United vs. Arsenal or Chelsea Watford vs. Southampton

Out of the bag?

I saw the Chelsea - Arsenal game on Saturday morning at the pub. What a match! Penalties! Excitement! Posts! Last (7) Minute Equalizers! I can't wait for the replay. Btw, the one thing that the entire pub agreed on, even the Arsenal supporters, was that Francis Jeffers would be as at home on the 3-meter board as in the penalty area.

3-meter board? Implies he was guilty of diving to get the penalty. Guiltyas charged, m'lud. Out of the bag? - They used to draw numbered balls out of a velvet bag to decide who played who. Now they tend to use something resembling a transparent tumble-drier on it's side.

My team Liverpool beat Bolton Wanderers 2-0 with goals from Diouf and Michael Owen. This victory leaves Liverpool in 6th place, just two points behind fifth-placed Chelsea and three points behind city rivals Everton, who are fourth. Bolton, however, are now tied with West Ham at third-from-last spot, with superior goal difference (that's -16 vs the Hammers' -21, so it's nothing to shout about). The three bottom spots will be relegated to Division 1 at the end of the season, and with West Brom and Sunderland already trailing West Ham and Bolton by at least five points, the focus will be on who takes this last unlucky spot. [See the EPL table.] Elsewhere, in the F.A. Cup quarterfinals, last season's runners-up Chelsea drew 2-2 away to Cup-holders Arsenal, thanks to a last-gasp equalizer from Frank Lampard. Chelsea will host the replay on March 25 at Stamford Bridge. In other F.A. Cup quarterfinal action, First Division promotion hopefuls Sheffield United upset EPL relegation candidates Leeds 1-0; EPL mid-table team Southampton knocked out First Division promo hopefuls Wolves 2-0; and Watford defeated Burnley 2-0 in an all-First Division tie. With two First Division teams (Sheffield Utd. and Watford) and two EPL teams (Southampton and either Arsenal or Chelsea) in the semi-finals, we could have a guaranteed F.A. Cup final between EPL and First Division teams, a treat for the neutral football fan and anyone who loves a giantkiller match-up. Depending on how the semi-final draw goes, of course.
