Hope Solo's Cocky Personality Helps Women's Soccer: Although she won't be in Saturday's Women's Professional Soccer championship, Hope Solo's reputation as "that loudmouth goalkeeper" is helping draw attention to the fledgling league, reports The Atlantic magazine. "No one’s neutral about Hope Solo," says Angela Tavares, a writer for Goal.com. "They either love her or hate her."

"No one's neutral about Hope Solo,"

Beg to differ. I have never heard of her, therefore I have no opinion of her.

Then you must be no one.

Hope Solo's one of the best known female soccer players in the world, and could be the sport's best keeper.

Can I be on the hater side?

I'm more of a chaotic neutral about Hope Solo.

Topics about football tend to attract trolls like excrement attracts flies.

They sure do, did you see all those trolls in the latest Brett Favre thread.

Drood's comment in this thread seems completely rational and honest.

I watch soccer and I know who Hope Solo is, but I honestly have no opinion about her. The comment by Angela Tavares is rediculous.

Excrement ? That's just a $10 word for shit .

Maybe it's because I spent the last 10 years in the Seattle area, maybe it's because she is hot (lol, not 1 of my reasons), or maybe it's because Solo is IMO the best keeper the U.S. women teams have ever had play keeper. If anyone has a right to run their mouth it's Solo (besides the "superstars" Chastain, Hamm, or any of the other "older" champion players) she hasn't given any reason (in my mind/view) on the field, too be treated by the public, teammates, and coaches, as she has the past few years (sat for Brazil match in 2007 World Cup, and the 3rd place game for a very rusty Scurry, among other incidents). Well I'm a Pittsburgh resident, so the whole shat talking stuff, and public criticism doesn't impress me, now or in the past. Unless that person, player has shown they are in fact the best, say what you want when you want, but you better back it up in your play. There should be a level of sportsmanship in any competitive play, but every team has that one player (Joey Porter for example), so yeah it's fine, again to have the "right" you best put up, or shut up. Until I see Solo's play decline, or become affected by outside sources, yap it up, if that's your thing.....

The "no one" in Tavares' comment clearly refers to people who follow her sport.

Drood's comment in this thread seems completely rational and honest.

If you don't know who Hope Solo is, you clearly have no interest in women's soccer. So what is the point of commenting on a link about a sport you have no interest in -- other than to piss people off who do care?

rcade, reread my post.

I do watch soccer (Men's, and Women's), and I do know who Hope Solo is.

So, what is the point of your post, but to chastize me for expressing an opinion that is contrary to what may have been expressed by someone else ?

Please, read with some comprehension. He's talking about Drood, not you.

I supported Drood's right to express his opinion. I think I comprehended just fine, but thanks so much for your concern.

Reading comprehension, tommytrump: drood clearly expressed "no opinion."

I'd like to see women's soccer do better as it's one of the only sports that are generally thought of as a male sport that I actually like watching. I've tried but simply cant' get into the WNBA... at all.

I only knew Hope Solo by name, but after reading the article it seems she's trying to hard. Yes, speak your mind. But the whole 'I'm not wearing pink' and 'we don't go shopping after games' vibe seems trivial. If you're going to try and be obnoxious she should do it like T.O., naturally.

Of course, she's getting endorsements, so maybe that's the angle she's taking.

I was referring to Drood in my reply to you, Tommytrump. I'm sorry I was not more clear.

Not really. I don't watch much women's soccer but I sure know who Hope Solo is, then again I also know who Mia Hamm is (Nomar's wifey).
