Well, they can't seem to pry Lescott loose from Everton, but I'm guessing that's because Everton wants to fund their whole team off of the sale.

And as an Arsenal fan, I can tell you that Toure is not the player he was a couple of years ago. His main attribute was always his recovery speed, not his defensive positioning, and now he's lost a step or too. I hated to see him go, but of the current crop of gunner defenders, he was the weakest link (save Silvestre, who should be banished).
And Adebayor was a punk over the last 15 months. Good riddance.

So far this summer Moyes has spent $0 in fees, taking Jo on loan again from nouveau riche Man City, German U-17 defender Shkodran Mustafi on a free from Hamburg and Americans Anton Peterlin from the Ventura County Fusion and Cody Arnoux from the Carolina Dynamo, both fourth division teams (US fourth division!). GBP22M for Lescott might actually cover the total wage bill, and surely will combined with the Europa League income if Toffees make group stage or better.
As things stand Everton will never do more than fifth in the EPL but Moyes has to be respected for consistently finishing at or near the top of the Rest of the Pack table.

Yeah, i never really cared for Toure even in his "prime". He was always just an okay defender for me...and i can't STAND looking at his freaky ears.

From my completely uninformed (and fan-blinded) perspective, it seems like Everton could afford to let Lescott go on the defensive side of things, but they'll struggle to replace the offense he brings. If they could stay healthy and pick up one more midfielder, I think they'd at least bother the folks at the top of the table. But fourth will remain out of reach unless one of the big teams has a terrible season.

Toure was bored and unhappy at Arsenal, according to a teammate.

Interesting transfers this summer. Is it just me or is Manchester City unable to make a good buy?! I mean, with all that money they sign Toure but let go of Elano?!
