Close but no cigar: One of the biggest stories of this year's Stanley Cup Finals is if Hossa made the right decision to go to the Red Wings to get his name etched on the Stanley Cup. We have to wait until Friday to find out that answer. The question though inspired the Bleacher Report to compile a list of 40 great players who have not had their names engraved on the silver chalice. [via Puck Daddy]

Before the lockout, it seemed like it was common for contenders to sign a veteran who had yet to win a Cup. Hasek, Bourque, Andreychuk to name a few. As a Devils fan I was worried about that extra motivation back in 2003 when the Mighty Ducks had veteran Steve Thomas. Somehow, he didn't make the list.

The numbers are in Hossa's favour. It has been 38 years since an away team has won a game 7.

GO PENGUINS! ;)

A Penguins' optimist could argue that the given stat means a road team is due.

The real irony if the Penguins were to win would be that they would have done so in large part because Hossa has done practically nothing in the series. No goals, 3 points. If the Wings lose, he'd be the biggest reason why.

Maybe Hossa will want to come back to the Penguins if they win Friday night.
