Can Dr. Marshall Make Your Staff Injury-Free?: Former National League Cy Young Award Winner Mike Marshall says he can through physics and special exercise. A straight-line delivery is the key, and former Mets prospect Joe Williams wants a chance to prove Marshall's theories. Williams is currently pitching for the Springfield Cardinals, St. Louis' AA farm team.
I found this post very interesting, as I pitched for a number of years. My elbow and shoulder could tell some great stories. After viewing the video link I do have two questions. These questions have been raised before when talking about bringing in fast pitch softball pitchers. How will they deal with pitching from the stretch and fielding the position. The video shows the plant foot staying parallel to the line of the pitch. It also shows that in the follow through the pitcher has his back to the plate almost. The second point is not as big of a concern as there are a number of pitchers who end up in a bad fielding position. Holding runners from the stretch is a completely different issue. The proof remains to be seen and in my opinion anything to reduce arm injuries is a good thing. The physics seem to make sense to me. I wish Mr. Williams the best of luck and will now be following some more minor league baseball.

I find that if I excercise it enough, my staff suffers no ill effects. Chalk it up to the old adage "use it or lose it".
What's that you say? Oh. Hmmm..... That's a completely different thing now, isn't it.
