Some companies sticking with Phelps: It's good to see some companies accepting Michael Phelps' apology and staying by him!
Given that Palin admitted toking up back when pot was legal for personal use in AK, bad (and irrelevant) choice of reference. Anyway, what Seth Myers said.

Aside from the standard admonishment about editorializing in a FPP, the Kellogg's thing is somewhat deceiving. They weren't renewing that contract, anyway, according to Darren Rovell. So they sort of look like they are taking a stand without actually doing anything.

Pot may have been legal in Alaska, but it was (and still is) illegal in American. As for the admonishment, I accept it and apolgize.

Kellogg's was also in a tougher situation than most...their products, and thus their advertising, are aimed primarily at children. I do not fault them for their stance.

I happen to like Kelloggs cereals and back in the day I drank the bong water. I'm glad that he isn't being crucified and that some are sticking by the guy.

I'm happy to say that I will continue to both smoke the wacky and purchase Kellogg's products. that Dr. Kellogg was one wacky dude anyway. Don't masturbate? Good luck with that one Doc.

Wow, piss on them, then. That's extra cheezy in that case.

I just don't understand why everyone is picking on Michael Phelps for an innocent mistake.
Actually, I don't care what Kelloggs does. At my age I'm strictly a Post Shredded Wheat man.

I find this whole exercise interesting when compared to the Ricky Williams saga. While I recognize that Williams was suspended for the equivalent of "in competition" testing - the public reaction to the behaviour has been decidely different it seems. Williams was 'wasting' his talent, whereas Phelps 'made a mistake'.
Of course, if the substance was steroids, the positions would be reversed. Isn't the universe a wacky place? That's a horrible t-shirt, fatty. I want two.

Ricky Williams made a mistake the first time. By the 103rd time he got caught, he was in wasting his talent territory.

Is American close or near AMERICA?

I think we're all missing the real point of this story: You can smoke the pot and still win 8 gold medals at the Olympics, kids.

But can you smoke THE pot and win gold at the Olympics....at the same time?

yerfatma, thanks for that link...I haven't laughed that hard in a long time.
I think the message young kids are taking from the Phelps/A-Rod mess is that doing drugs makes you a winner, you just have to be smart enough not to get caught. Or, at least don't get caught until you make a ton of money.

If Subway loses the munchie-crazed stoned crowd, they will probably go under. Nothing better at those times than a footlong with everything and a few of those huge chocolate chip cookies!
