Obama is a soccer fan.: West Ham invite Obama to watch a game at Upton Park. Apparently, he watched a Hammers game in 2003 while visiting his half-sister in London (article doesn't say if it was live, home, away or on the telly). Obama's older daughter plays on a soccer team. Change we can believe in.

Clyde Best. The Big Match. Early 1970s.
Forget Proust, you just need TV football memories to bring back the glories of our youths.

So he's a soccer fan, and his favourite TV show is "The Wire".
If it comes out that he's a Nine Inch Nails fan, I may just plot to become the first lady.

A soccer fan and a high school basketball player. Obama defeated high school wrestler John McCain to become the President-elect of the US.

And apparently he shoots hoops every election day for good luck. I like that.

Obama takes it to the hoop.
If I was Obama, I would take advantage of my status and drive the lane every time I had the ball. Even if someone would challenge him in the paint, Obama's going to get the call.

Correction: Even if someone would challenge him in the paint, the Secret Service would have him in a throwdown, lockhold, guns drawn. And, then, yes, Obama's going to get the call.

There was some fun (albeit slightly stalkerish) pool video of him at his daughter's match, and giving some touchline coaching on good kicking form. (He learned to play the proper way -- kids' kickabouts on the streets in Indonesia -- rather than being ferried to well-tended pitches in a minivan.)
Let's just make sure that Big Ron isn't around on that first UK visit as prez, shall we?

I wonder if he is a real football fan... Wouldn't that be great if he was? For instance, if he said so in an interview or press conference...

Leeds had some bloke called Albert who died lonely and impoverished, but West Ham are generally acknowledged to have been amongst the first of the top clubs to embrace the athleticism and footballing intellect of the black man. I still hate the bastards though.
West Ham, that is, not black men.
