Premier League Predictions Thread: What team will finish top of the table? What teams will be relegated? What team will be scandalized by an amateur porn video? The season starts Saturday. (Details inside).

I’m open to other suggestions for categories and points, but how about the following for starters? 1. Pick the top four finishers (Champions League places) in order. One point for each team you pick that finishes in the top four plus one point for getting the correct final place of a team. Here’s a link to this year’s league table. (8 points total) 2. Pick the three teams to be relegated in order (18, 19, 20). Same scoring -- one point for each team you pick that is relegated and one point for getting the correct place of a team. (6 points total) 3. Pick the team that finishes the most places (not points) above where it finished last year. For purposes of the newly promoted teams, we’ll go by Championship finish and say Derby is judged based on improvement over 20th place, Birmingham 19th, and Sunderland 18th. 2 points if you get the most improved team, 1 point if you get the second most improved (but one choice only -- i.e., don't choose who you think will finish most improved and second-most improved). Here’s a link to last year’s final table (ignore the three bottom sides). (2 points total) 4. Pick the highest goal scorer in the Premier League on the season (one choice only). Premier League games only; no cups or other competitions. 2 points if you get the top scorer, 1 point if you get the second highest scorer. (2 points total) 5. Pick the goal keeper with the most clean sheets on the season (one choice only). Again, Premier League games only; no cups or other competitions. 2 points if you get the keeper with the most clean sheets, 1 point if you get the keeper with the second highest number. (2 points total) This comes out to a nice, even, 20 points. I didn’t fuss around with other competitions (e.g., pick the FA Cup Winner or the English team to advance furthest in the Champions League), as the above categories allow us to look in over the course of the season (say, for example, at the half-way point) and say who’s in the lead or who would win if the season ended at that point. I’m open to suggestions, though.

Looks like certain of my links are broken. Mods, feel free to fix; otherwise, see below. The right links should be: Premier League (in the title) and This year's table (under number 1 -- it appears the Premier League's site won't let you link directly into the table?)

If Derby end up in everyone's bottom 3, do I get a prize?

Changing my answer to 3, not Citeh, West Ham.

Can I change my 'most goals' player? Fuck.

Texan, you were always screwed because Ferguson could not have handled Tevez's ego and a healthy Rooney. It's a good tension but one that would have precluded either player from reaching 20 goals in 38 matches. Benni McCarthy was another touted for top scorer who went off injured. Any reports yet from locals on what his injury is and how long he'll be out?

Dang, there goes my fantasy league captain and two of my strikers in the first weekend. Transfer window ahoy!
