"We had to tell our son that our baby was going to heaven instead.": Leeds and England defender Danny Mills speaks to the Guardian about the death of his third child. "Late complications ... meant our third child could not survive, would not be given the chance of life. But so advanced was the pregnancy, at beyond 4 months, that Lisa would still have to go through childbirth. Our baby would be born but we would have only minutes together."

So THATS why he has been out of the lineup at Leeds... All i ever saw was that he was out for "personal reasons".

My brother-in-law's sister had a stillborn child a few months ago, and it was very devastating to say the least. Her kids are a little too young to understand, so I am not quite sure how they dealt with the tragedy. My heart goes out to the guy. I could not imagine how I would deal with it.

Harsh. This same situation happened to a friend of mine a few months back. Very sad.

As a dad, I was particularly moved by this piece. It's also a balanced, personal counterpoint to all the rumors, stereotypes and caricatures we usually get in the media about pro athletes.
