NFL Playoff Confidence Pool.: Because sometimes, a Pick 'em just isn't enough.
There are 12 selections possible and only 10 teams to pick. Shouldn't it be cut to 10 selections?

I'm in but favorites better do well for me too win. Chargers over Saints in the big game.

Why 2 points for every win? Methinks you're just trying to inflate your cumulative Confidence point total.

Holy shit bill, that's what I'm predicting as well. That would be an extremely fun Superbowl to watch.

It defaults to 2 points for a win and 1 for a tie. I'm not sure what the NFL's procedure is for a tie after 1 OT in the post season. Not very likely to happen as I think there hasn't been a tie in several years. I can change it to 1 point per win.
posted by apoch at 04:57 AM on January 06, 2007
Quick reading, there will be no ties. Which makes absolute sense. The rule is written really funny because it says they play till the first score in fifteen minute increements. The preseason and regular season is played in exception to the rule regarding ties. I'll change the score for wins to 1 point.

So how do I get into this fancy pool?

Post your picks. I can add them. I screwed up the closing time and can't see where I can change.
posted by apoch at 10:37 AM on January 06, 2007
Thanks apoch. Can you post a link to the rules? I haven't done one of these since the World Cup.
posted by Texan_lost_in_NY at 10:44 AM on January 06, 2007
Give each team a point from 12-1. Assign each point value once. The link should give you a list of the teams. I'll assume you want your name to be your user name unless you say otherwise. You can email me your pick as I need your email address to set up the picks.

Oh and if you want some trash talk in there I can add that too.

Should each round's win be worth more (i.e. 1 pt 1st round, 2pts second round, etc.) to account for the byes? Or does the first round just make this more interesting?
posted by SummersEve at 11:40 AM on January 06, 2007
There isn't a way to do that.
posted by apoch at 11:55 AM on January 06, 2007
The way it is now is probably better since it gives a wee bit of reward or incentive to put an underdog higher.

Texan, you're all set. No problem. If I had paid closer attention when setting it up, it'd still be open. I didn't adjust the close time from Greenwhich Mean Time.

Any emails sent before 4:30 EST (First kickoff) will be added, probably won't be till after the first game is already over. Anything I get after will have to be ignored. Sorry.

Well, the standings are up to date and the I'll try to get each of tonights games in shortly after they are completed.

Standings are up to date through the Saints/Eagles game. Only 5 more games left.

Ouch, lost my 11. I still like my chances if the Colts keep winning. I'm the only one giving the Colts a 12?!
