Sotheby's | SCP Auctions: Some SpoFites were helpful to me in answering questions about putting my grandfather's baseball card collection up for auction, and some have expressed interest in the auction itself which started yesterday and runs through November 30. [more inside]

Are ALL those items from your grandfather's collection? Or just the baseball cards?

The catalog for the WHOLE auction is 240+ pages. I have 5 lots in the auction made up some of the cards I inherited from my grandfather. A few of the lots are individual cards and a few are made up of groups of cards from a particular card set.

Good luck terrapin - this seems rather lucrative.

Thanks everyone. As hard as it may be to believe, this isn't about the money, and I didn't link directly to my items in the auction because I was trying to play down the money angle. (I don't believe these are as valuable as some have speculated in past threads). I decided to auction them because I don't collect cards, and for over 30 years these cards have been in a safe deposit box. My grandfather died in 1986, and when my dad died in 2004, I found them in the bank. It seems silly to me to sit in a bank vault when someone who really loves these sorts of things could enjoy them. I kept some things as a reminder of my grandfather, and I hope the others find homes with people who will love them. I posted this because at least one SpoFite (thanks skydivedad!) helped me with card questions, and a sports memorabilia auction is sport-related. Also I thought I recalled some people asking me to keep them informed, and this is the final stage in the process. Thanks again!
