SportsFilter World Series Confidence Pool Update: mkn is kicking everyone's butt and Yukon seems to be achieving a little daylight in his race for the Costanza.

Not that I'm going to win, but if the Cards beat the Mets, at least I could achieve some semblance of respectability.

I need the Mets to win, and then a Detroit sweep. They are the only two teams that have kept me in it.

It's a thing of beauty for me, really it is

I hate this game.

Don't worry, LBB, you're just about to pass a cricket fan going in the opposite direction.

wooo. I'd gladly give this up for a win in *any* of the hockey related competitions. Unfortunately, I missed the draft yesterday for one of them because I'm in the middle of a move. Damnit.

Stat fu nerds (a.k.a. grum), is there any way I can win this?

Well, only looking at the top five, you'd win if the mets win the next two in the nlcs and the tigers win in 7.

Mets win NLCS in 7, Tigers win Series in 6, three way tie - YYM, mkn, and NoMich Mets win NLCS in 6, Tigers Win series in 5, two way tie with YYM and mkn. If the cardinals win the NLCS you are out of YYM, and so is everybody except mkn. The tigers can sweep the cards and mkn wins by a landslide.

Thanks apoch, guess maybe I should root for the Mets.

No problem. All that playing around with spreadsheets I've been doing lately had to be good for something.

Just like Whitney sang: "That's what spreadsheets are for."

Rough calculation, but I think if the Cardinals win tonight, Yukon clinches the Costanza. If the Mets win, he and I would fall into a tie. If the Tigers sweep we would stay tied, if the Mets win one, I think he'd pass me and I'd slip into last. It's the summer(s eve) of George.

mkn is the winner. In the event of a cardinal sweep he wins by one point over mbd1. In the event of a Tigers win in 7, well, you don't want to see how far ahead he'll pull, being smart enough to pick Tigers for 8 and Cards for 7.

Smart? Smarts had nothing to do with it! Where's my trophy?

If it was up your butt you'd know where it was. Is. Are?

I finally got around to updating the standings by adding games 1 and 2 of the World Series. Sorry, but I was at the OBX over the weekend.

Aw, sorry NoMich, I could've done it for you. It didn't even occur to me.
