Logged out: When I click the front-page link to read the Scott Sharp post, I'm not logged in, apparently because the link is to http://sportsfilter.com/columns/index.cfm?id=169 instead of http://www.sportsfilter.com/columns/index.cfm?id=169 Cookie issue?

Yeah, the cookie must be set to "www.sportfilter.com" instead of the all-encompassing "sportsfilter.com".

Hm. I logged out from "www.sportsfilter.com" and discovered I was still logged into "sportsfilter.com", and all the linkies work. Weird.

Yeah, right now the cookie seems to be set up so that a sportsfilter.com
cookie won't agree with a www.sportsfilter.com
cookie. So you can log in twice, once with the "www" and once with out. Most people will be logged in under only the "www", which means when you're shunted to a non-www page, it looks like you're logged out. My memory is telling me all kinds of ways to fix this, but I don't trust it to tell me the right one.

Logging in sets cookies for both with and without the www, and logging out deletes cookies for both. At least, it's supposed to. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. The ColdFusion code is really simple, so it's exasperating to try to fix, and since we're in the process of moving to something different and it's not a huge problem, I'm inclined to leave it alone for now.

I feel your pain. Not for this time, but Firefox's LiveHTTPHeaders extension can be a help in cases like this.
